RAW MATERIAL

Sugar:

For Sugar the main raw material is sugarcane which is procured from farmers in when it is harvested during the months of November to April. As such sugar is seasonal industry which run during the harvesting period of  sugarcane. The price of sugar cane is determined by central govt. under Essential Commodities Act, 1951 known as Statutory Minimum price(SMP). However the sugar factory ha to pay state advised price /agree price which normally remains highest than SMP. Total cultivatable area of the company is 420231 acre and in around 15-20% of the same is used for cane harvesting involving about 50,000 gerowers spread over 1639 villages. The factory area have one of the biggest commond area in where there is tremendous potential for sugar cane cultivataion. Average recovery of cane is lower due agro climatic factor and recurring flood due to release of excess 2water buy Nepal government without notice. The company  makes survey/ study at the time of plantation, during growth and before harvesting to ascertain the quantum of sugarcane to be available for ensuing season in the command areas of the Sugar Factory. After making proper analysis of Sugarcane requirement for crushing on day to day basis, Purji             ( Requisition) is distributed amongst the growers which give them entitlement to supply cane on specified dated. There are altogether 19 Cane procurement Centres situated at various places apart from facilities for direct receipt of cane at Sugar Factory Gate.  The cane is weighed at Mill Gate and recorded in Daily Purchase Register. On the basis of cane receipt payment is made to the growers.

PROCESS OF SUGAR MANUFACTURE:

The cane so received and passed through levellers to cut the cane into suitable sizes. The cane so prepared is then passed through the Milling Tandem consisting of Crusher and Mills.' mixed ' or raw juice. Such juice is pumped to the process House where it is heated up-to 65/75 degree centigrade and treated with lime and Sulphur Dioxide Gas. After this treatment the juice is further heated to 100 degrees centigrade in juice heaters. The heated juice is then sent to clarifiers where the precipitate of Tricalcium Phosphate, Calcium Sulphates settles down and Clarified juice floats on the top.

The output is known as sulphured Syrup from which Sugar Crystals are obtained. The Sugar Crystals of desired grade i.e. Grade A is obtained in three stages. In the first stage ' nucile' is passed through the syrup to obtain 'C' grain. The C grain is washed to obtain c grain massecuite which is boiled in vacuum pan and passes through crystallizes and centrifuges to obtain c grain sugar and final molasses. The final molasses is stored separately and the C grain sugar is further processes to obtain B grain sugar and light is further processed to obtain B grain sugar and light molasses. B grain is further processed to obtain A grain Sugar, to be bagged in 100 Kgs. bags.

By Product- Molasses is sold to Distillery Division after getting Allotment Order from the State Government for production of Industrial Alcohol.

Distillery Division:
The allotment of Molasses is done by the Bihar State Government since Molasses supply and movement is controlled by the.

The price of Molasses depends on its quality and the demand supply position.

PROCESS OF MANUFACTURE OF  ETHYL ALCOHAL

FERMENTATION:

The raw material for alcohol is cane molasses which is received/produced from the sugarmills and is stored in steel tank from where it is brought to the process.

We adopted latest technology of fermentation i.e continuous fermentation with yeast recycling. In this process molasses is being fed into process continuously.

In our fermentation process, we have three fermenters connected in series. We are using molasses, water continuously in two fermenters only. Simultaneously the whole mass of each fermentor remains under recirculation also. We add yeast in our fermentable sugars present in molasses in converted into alcohol and carbondioxide in presence of yeast. Fermentation becomes completes upto 3rd fermentor, where this mixture of molasses and water called fermented wash. This fermented wash contains 7.5 to 8.0% alcohol v/v. Finally this fermented wash allowed for setting because it contains a a huge amount of solids. After down these solids, the clear fermented wash is collected in a separated tank called C.W.T.

DISTILLATION:

In distillation we have two columns.

1)      Analyser Column

2)      Rectifier Column

Fermented wash from Fermentation section carried up to Analyser Col. And this fermented wash feed on the top of Column and from the bottom of the column steam purged where fermented wash get boiled in presence of steam. During boiling, Ethyl Alcoholic get vapurised due to its low B.P. ie. 78 C. These alcoholic Vapours contain 35 to 40 % Alcohol only.

In Rectifier Column again steam applied from bottom where it boils and again concentrated alcoholic vapour goes up to Rectifier top, from top of the Rectifier column these vapour goes to the Condensers where it get condenced and relaxed back to the Rectifier top and from Rectifier top Alcohol Draw taken out which contains 4.5 % to 5% of Water and Rest Ethyl Alcohol.

From analyser bottom liquid waste comes out known as spent wash. This contains high C.O.D i.e 1,10,000 ppm which is very toxic for any purposes. This spent wash is used to generated Bio-gas which used as fuel in Boiler.

We have imported the Technology for generation of Bio-gas from Spent wash from M/s. Aqua Technoes, Bangkok.

 SUPERVISION & QUALITY CONTROL:

We have full flased Laboratories with all modern equipments and instruments for analysis of our molasses, finished goods and parameters pertaining to the Pollution Control Board. As well as the parameters required to maintain the process of fermentation, distillatin, Bio-gas and D.M. Plants.

We have qualified staff for operation of the plant and supervisors of all the sections of the distillery for supervision different types of work and process.
